    Class A
    Suitable for older persons. Suitable for long-term use.
  • Lamotriginum
    Used as "ANTIEPILEPTICS"
    Class C
    Suitable for older persons, with specific cautions. Several adverse effects. Take into account especially common and sometimes serious adverse skin reactions.
  • Lansoprazolum
    Class A
    Suitable for older persons. Over 8 weeks use only for high risk patients. In long term use, may reduce the absorption of calcium and vitamin B12.
  • Latanoprostum
    Class A
    Suitable for older persons. Start and continue therapy under supervision by an ophthalmologist. May cause alterations in iris pigmentation and growth of eyelashes.

  • Lercanidipini hydrochloridum
    Class A
    Suitable for older persons. Do not use in severe renal insufficiency. Significant adverse effects include constipation, ankle oedema and orthostatic hypotension. Take interactions into account. Avoid consuming grapefruit during treatment.
  • Levetiracetamum
    Used as "ANTIEPILEPTICS"
    Class C
    Suitable for older persons, with specific cautions. Sedative. Reduce the dose in even mild renal insufficiency. Note especially central nervous system adverse effects.
  • Levocetirizini dihydrochloridum
    Class C
    Suitable for older persons, with specific cautions. Reduce the dose and/or increase the dosing interval in even moderate renal insufficiency. May cause fatigue.
  • Levodopum
    Class A
    Suitable for older persons. Start therapy under specialist supervision. Absorption increases with age. Take interactions into account, especially with antipsychotics. Discontinue treatment gradually.

    Suitable for older persons. Take the interactions in the absorption phase into account with calcium, iron, magnesium and aluminium.

  • Loperamidi hydrochloridum
    Class A

    Suitable for older persons. Reduce the dose in severe renal insufficiency. Concurrent use with clopidogrel can increase loratadine level. May cause fatigue.
  • Lorazepamum
    Used as "PSYCHOLEPTICS"
    Class C
    Suitable for older persons, with specific cautions. Sedative. For short-term use only. Addictive. Significant adverse effects include cognitive disporder and risk for traffic accidents. Increases risk for falls. Paradoxically, may increase anxiety, restlessness and aggression. Non-pharmacological treatments are primary in the treatment of insomnia and behavioral symptoms.
  • Losartanum kalicum
    Class A
    Suitable for older persons. Monitor renal function during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of anti-inflammatory analgesics.

Class A A (green): Suitable for the older persons. The medicinal substance can be used as in younger patients. Changes due to aging do not affect the dose or frequency of administration, and the adverse reaction profile is not different from that of younger patients.

Class B B (grey): There is little research evidence, practical experience or efficacy in older persons.

Class C C (yellow): Suitable for older persons, with specific cautions. The medicinal substance can be used by older persons, but the dose might either have to be reduced, or the frequency of administration decreased due to mild or moderate renal insufficiency or a significant risk of interactions or adverse reactions.

Class D D (red): Avoid use in older persons. Use is possible only in exceptional cases or on a one-off basis. Changes due to aging predispose older persons to adverse or dangerous reactions to the drug. The risk of adverse reactions typically exceeds the benefits.
