  • Fa

  • Famotidinum
    Class C
    Suitable for older persons, with specific cautions. Reduce the dose in even moderate renal insufficiency. Older persons are at risk of adverse effects, such as dizziness and confusion.
  • Fe

  • Febuxostatum
    Class C
    Suitable for older persons, with specific cautions. Do not use on patients with severe cardiovascular diseases.
  • Felodipinum
    Class A
    Suitable for older persons. Significant adverse effects include constipation, ankle oedema and orthostatic hypotension. Take interactions into account. Avoid consuming grapefruit during treatment.
  • Fenofibratum
    Class C
    Suitable for older persons, with certain reservations. Reduce the dose in even mild renal insufficiency. Avoid use in severe renal insufficiency. Take interactions into account, especially with statins and warfarin.
  • Fenoteroli hydrobromidum
    Class A
    Suitable for older persons. Potentiates sympathomimetic effects. May cause hypokalaemia.
  • Fentanylum
    Used as "ANALGESICS"
    Class C
    Suitable for older persons, with specific cautions. Opioid. Sedative. Serotonergic. Start pain management with orally administered opiod. Transdermal efficacy is weak in patients with cachexy. Start a laxative to prevent constipation. Nasal spray should be used only for breakthrough pain of cancer. Take significant interactions into account.
  • Fesoterodini fumaras
    Used as "UROLOGICALS"
    Class D
    Avoid use in older persons. Anticholinergic. Reduce the dose in even moderate renal insufficiency. Significant adverse reactions include dry mouth, constipation, urinary difficulties, confusion and cognitive disorder. Take several interactions into account. Weakens the efficacy of anti-Alzheimer`s drugs. Avoid consuming grapefruit during treatment.
  • Fexofenadini hydrochloridum
    Class C
    Suitable for older persons, with specific cautions. Reduce the dose and/or increase the dosing interval in even moderate renal insufficiency. May cause fatigue. Take interactions into account.

    Used as "UROLOGICALS"
    Class A
    Suitable for older persons.
  • Fl

  • Fluconazolum
    Class C
    Suitable for older persons, with specific cautions. Risk of QT prolongation. Reduce the dose in even moderate renal insufficiency. Monitor liver test values. Take several interactions into account, especially with warfarin.
  • Fludrocortisoni acetas
    Class C
    Suitable for older persons, with specific cautions. Note the strong mineralocorticoid effect on electrolytes. Off-label use for treatment of hypotension must be conducted with small doses and only after careful consideration.

    Used as "DIURETICS"
    Class A
    Suitable for older persons. Note possibility of orthostatic hypotension and electrolyte disturbances.

Class A A (green): Suitable for the older persons. The medicinal substance can be used as in younger patients. Changes due to aging do not affect the dose or frequency of administration, and the adverse reaction profile is not different from that of younger patients.

Class B B (grey): There is little research evidence, practical experience or efficacy in older persons.

Class C C (yellow): Suitable for older persons, with specific cautions. The medicinal substance can be used by older persons, but the dose might either have to be reduced, or the frequency of administration decreased due to mild or moderate renal insufficiency or a significant risk of interactions or adverse reactions.

Class D D (red): Avoid use in older persons. Use is possible only in exceptional cases or on a one-off basis. Changes due to aging predispose older persons to adverse or dangerous reactions to the drug. The risk of adverse reactions typically exceeds the benefits.
