The State Agency of Medicines organises a meeting of professionals of the European medicines agencies in Riga

The State Agency of Medicines (hereinafter - SAM) organises a meeting for the Working Group of Communication Professionals of the Heads of Medicines Agencies (HMA) network that will take place on 6th-8th of November 2013 in Riga. The meeting will take place under the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union to ensure the continuity of the forum operation for field professionals taking into account the capacity of the Medicines Control Agency of Lithuania with regard to organisation of official events.

The State Agency of Medicines of Latvia has agreed to organise this meeting to promote cooperation with the Heads of European medicines agencies within the HMA network, as well as to support the Medicines Control Agency of Lithuania during the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The objective of the HMA Working Group of Communication Professionals is to promote EU level cooperation of communication professionals regarding safety issues of medicines, to promote exchange of experience regarding examples of good practice, as well as to coordinate actions in situations of crisis that may involve several or all European countries. The continuity of the operation of this working group is an essential prerequisite to continue the work that has been started, as well as to promote further cooperation. The organisation of the working group meeting in Riga will help to improve the reputation of SAM and Latvia in Europe by once again confirming that the professionals working in the public administration of Latvia are equal cooperation partners for European institutions.
