Information on Medicines Distribution Department
- Issues permits for import, export, transit and distribution of medicines;
- Issues special permits (licences) for work with precursors, precursor operator cards and permits for purchase of medicines (to ensure own operation);
- Collects and provides information (including statistical data) regarding consumption, prices and availability of medicines, as well as turnover in pharmacies, wholesale facilities and manufacturing companies;
- Maintains a list of medicines for which a contract has been signed between the National Health Service and the marketing authorisation company or wholesaler regarding co financing and whose export to EU countries or export in general is restricted;
- Records and controls the legal circulation of narcotic substances, psychotropic substances and precursors controlled in Latvia.
